How to add a donation button to Shopify

Add a CrowdCreate fundraising widget to your Shopify storefront with a Custom Liquid block or a theme edit. Funders pledge on your page, and the money lands in your own Stripe account. This works on any Shopify plan.

What you need on Shopify

Good news here: every Shopify plan lets you edit your theme, so the widget works on all of them, including the trial. You don't need an upgrade. If you'd rather not touch theme code at all, the hosted page at crowdcreate.app/c/your-name is always available as an alternative.

Step by step

  1. 1In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Themes.
  2. 2On your current theme, click Customize, then add a Custom Liquid section or block where you want the widget.
  3. 3Paste your CrowdCreate snippet into the Custom Liquid field and Save.
  4. 4To place it site-wide instead, click ... → Edit code, open theme.liquid, and paste the snippet just before the closing </body> tag, then Save.
  5. 5View your live store and make a $1 test pledge to confirm it works.

Do I need a paid plan on Shopify?

It depends. Some Shopify plans restrict custom code or embeds, so the inline widget may need a higher tier. If yours doesn't allow it, the hosted donation page works on any plan — you just link to it instead of embedding.

Where does the money go?

Into your own Stripe account, directly. CrowdCreate never holds or routes your donations — Stripe pays out to your bank on your schedule.
