Terms of service
Last updated 2026-05-27. Plain-English summary of the deal. A formal, counsel-reviewed version will replace this page before V1 ships to paying customers.
The deal
You pay us $20 a month. We give you a hosted donation widget you can embed on your website. Donations flow from your visitors directly to your connected Stripe account. CrowdCreate never holds your money — we provide the user interface and the dashboard around what Stripe does.
You can cancel at any time from your dashboard. We offer a 30-day no-questions-asked refund on your first month. After that, refunds are at our discretion (we're reasonable; if Stripe rejected your account or the widget genuinely didn't work, we'll refund).
What you can do
- Embed the widget on any website you own or operate.
- Accept donations in any currency Stripe supports for your country.
- Use your dashboard data however you like — including exporting it (V1.1) and contacting your donors directly via their email (please follow CAN-SPAM and GDPR).
- Cancel at any time. We'll keep your account dormant for 30 days in case you change your mind, then delete it.
What you can't do
- Use the widget for anything Stripe's restricted-business list doesn't allow. They'll block the payment upstream regardless; we'll suspend the account if it becomes a pattern.
- Resell or re-host the widget for other people's sites. One subscription = one site owner.
- Reverse-engineer the widget loader or our APIs to extract other customers' data. Each customer's data is scoped via row-level security; the only thing reverse-engineering buys you is a terms violation.
- Use CrowdCreate to send unsolicited email to your donors. This isn't a mailing-list product.
What we can do
- Suspend an account if we detect fraud, terms violations, or repeated Stripe disputes that exceed normal patterns. We'll email you first when possible.
- Update the widget's rendering, add features to the dashboard, or change pricing. For pricing changes, you'll get at least 30 days' notice and the current month at the old price.
- Take CrowdCreate offline for short maintenance windows. We'll post status if anything is degraded for more than a few minutes.
Liability
We do our best. We make no warranty that the widget will be uninterrupted or error-free. If we cause you measurable loss through our negligence, our maximum liability is capped at what you've paid us in the previous 12 months. If you cause loss to your donors through your widget setup, that's between you and them.
For payment-related issues, Stripe's terms apply directly to you as a Stripe-connected-account holder. CrowdCreate is not a party to that relationship.
Disputes
If something goes sideways, email us first. We're small enough that a real human will read it and try to fix it. If we can't reach agreement, disputes are governed by Delaware law (we're a Delaware C-corp) and resolved through binding arbitration in Wilmington, DE.
Changes to these terms
We'll email every active subscriber at least 14 days before any material change to these terms and post a diff on this page. The terms in effect when you signed up continue to apply to your account until you accept changes.
