CrowdCreate

Online donations for Friends of the Library on your own site

Add a donation widget to your Friends of the Library group's own website or page so supporters can give toward programs, books, and the spaces they love, without leaving the page. The money goes straight to your group's Stripe account — we never hold it or take a cut. It's a flat $20 a month.

Small budgets, smaller margins for fees

A Friends group raises money for the extras a library budget can't always cover — children's programs, a summer reading prize, new shelving, an author visit. The sums are often modest, which is exactly why a percentage cut and a per-gift fee hurt: on a $15 gift, a platform's percentage plus the fixed processing charge can take a noticeable bite of money meant for a program. And the giving often happens on a third-party page that has nothing to do with your library, instead of the site or page where your community already finds your book-sale dates and event calendar.

Where CrowdCreate fits a Friends group

CrowdCreate puts a donate button on the page you already maintain. Paste one snippet and supporters give toward a specific program or the general fund — once, or monthly. The money lands in your group's own Stripe account, and at a flat $20 a month no percentage of a children's-program gift goes to a platform. The donor record is yours — names, amounts, dates — in your Stripe and dashboard, exportable whenever your treasurer or board needs it.

  • One-time gifts for a specific program and recurring monthly support for the general fund, both on your own site.
  • A flat $20/mo with no cut of what you raise; the percentage a typical tool keeps stays with the programs instead.
  • Funds land in your group's own Stripe account; we never hold or route the money.
  • Your donor list is yours to export for acknowledgments and board reports; funder PII auto-expires after 13 months.

Where CrowdCreate might not fit

CrowdCreate does not issue tax-deductible donation receipts. We move the gift into your group's Stripe account and give you the records. If your Friends group is a registered nonprofit and donors expect a receipt, you issue it from those records — don't tell donors a gift through CrowdCreate is tax-deductible on our account.

Common questions

Can donors give toward a specific program?

Yes. Point the ask at whatever you're raising for — summer reading, a new program, the general fund — and the gifts go straight to your group's own Stripe account. You can run different asks over the year.

Is this a good fit for small, occasional gifts?

It can be, but be honest with the math: on very small gifts the fixed 30¢ Stripe fee is a bigger share, and a flat $20/mo only pays off above a certain monthly volume. Our fee calculators can show you the break-even for your typical gift size.

Does CrowdCreate take a percentage?

No. A flat $20 a month, no cut of what you raise. Stripe charges its standard processing fee (2.9% + 30¢ per gift), which goes to Stripe.
