What is a payment processing fee?
A processing fee is the charge a payment processor like Stripe takes to handle a card transaction — commonly around 2.9% plus 30¢ per payment.
A payment processing fee is what it costs to actually move money from a donor's card to your account. The processor — Stripe, PayPal, and others — charges it on every transaction. For Stripe's standard online rate this is 2.9% + 30¢ per successful payment, though exact rates vary by processor, country, and account type.
This fee is unavoidable with any tool that takes card payments, because it pays the card networks and the processor, not your fundraising provider. It is separate from any platform fee the fundraising service might add on top.
CrowdCreate adds nothing to Stripe's processing fee. The 2.9% + 30¢ goes to Stripe; CrowdCreate's only charge is the flat $20/month. The 30¢ flat portion is why many small donations cost proportionally more to process than a few large ones.
CrowdCreate is a $20/month donation widget for your own website — no cut of your donations, money straight to your own Stripe.
