What is a recurring donation?

A recurring donation is an ongoing pledge: the donor authorizes a fixed amount to be charged on a regular schedule, most often monthly, rather than giving once. The charge repeats automatically until the donor stops it.

Recurring gifts are valuable because they make income predictable and, over a year, a modest monthly pledge usually outweighs a single one-time gift. They also tend to come from your most committed supporters.

Each recurring charge is processed like any other payment, so the standard processing fee applies each time it runs. A recurring $10 gift incurs Stripe's 2.9% + 30¢ on every monthly charge, not just the first.
