Fundraising goal calculator
Set the amount you want to take home and your typical donation size, and see how much you actually need to raise — and how many donations that takes — once Stripe's processing fee is accounted for. No sign-up; the math runs in your browser.
To take home $5,000, you'd need to raise about $5,189.41 across roughly 130 donations of $40 — the difference, $189.41, is Stripe's processing fee (2.9% + 30¢ per donation).
CrowdCreate's $20/mo is separate and flat — it doesn't grow with your goal, and there's no cut of what you raise. Donations land in your own Stripe account.
Based on Stripe's standard US card fee (2.9% + 30¢ per charge), which applies on virtually every donation platform, including CrowdCreate. Estimates only — your actual fees depend on card types and country.
Plan around the fee, not around a guess
Most fundraising goals are set as a take-home number — the amount you need for the project, the trip, the server bill. But card donations arrive after a processing fee, so the amount you have to raise is always a little higher than the amount you keep. Knowing the gap up front keeps your goal honest with your supporters.
The number of donations matters too. Because Stripe charges a fixed 30¢ on every charge on top of the percentage, a campaign of many small gifts pays more in fixed fees than the same total raised in a few larger gifts. If your average donation is small, nudging it up — suggested amounts, a default preset — moves your goal closer.
Common questions
Why is the amount to raise higher than my take-home goal?
Because card processing takes a cut before the money reaches you. Stripe's standard US fee is 2.9% + 30¢ per donation, so to net a given amount you have to gross a bit more. The calculator works that math backward for you.
Does this include CrowdCreate's $20/mo?
No — and on purpose. The $20/mo is a flat subscription that doesn't change with your goal, so folding it into a campaign total would distort the picture. Budget it separately for each month your campaign runs. There's no percentage cut of what you raise.
Why does a smaller average donation need more total raised?
The fixed 30¢ per donation hits small gifts harder. A $5 gift loses 30¢ (6%) to the fixed fee alone; a $100 gift loses the same 30¢ (0.3%). More, smaller donations means more fixed fees, so you gross more to net the same.
